One of the Engineering specialties SVA offers is Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Design (MEP). With several mechanical engineers and electrical engineers on staff, SVA can design complex building systems and durable industrial systems. One of the motto’s we follow is “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler (Albert Einstein). We like to design the most efficient systems for the project budget while making them low maintenance and long lasting.
Mechanical design includes heating and air conditioning for buildings. Variable Refrigerant Flow Zoning (VRFZ) heat pumps are an excellent choice for many applications. These systems provide incredible comfort and efficiency. Radiant floor heating is another excellent option for heating buildings comfortably. Often split system air conditioners and furnaces provide the most economical route to heat and cool a building. In some buildings, roof top units provide benefits in ease of maintenance and fresh air ventilation.
In electrical design, LED lighting has taken over most of the market for lighting in buildings and parking lots. SVA creates a lighting model for buildings to design and select the lights to provide the desired lighting levels in the buildings. The electrical services may range from 120 / 240 single phase to 480 volts, 3 phase services. These systems may be augmented or backed up with solar panels and natural gas or diesel generators.
The plumbing design has standardized on low-flow fixtures and touchless controls. Tankless water heaters have also become a common choice for hot water. SVA also offers services to redesign existing restroom facilities for handicap accessibility. Some projects such as bath houses at swimming pools and locker rooms in schools require new drain plumbing to reconfigure the spaces. SVA can provide the expertise you need to create drawings to obtain a plumbing permit for your project.
